Focus on heart health in preparation for World Yoga Day
World Yoga Day is around the corner, and on this occasion, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has given important suggestions regarding heart health. The ministry says that in today’s busy lifestyle, people pay attention to their achievements and income, but often forget to take care of the heart. Heart is the basis of every heartbeat of our life.
Health experts believe that in the race to achieve and do more, we ignore the organ that keeps working continuously. A healthy heart is the key to a happy and long life. The ministry has described yoga, meditation and pranayam as extremely important for heart health.
Yoga and meditation provide mental peace, reduce stress and improve emotional health. Regular yoga practice controls blood pressure, balances cholesterol levels and strengthens the heart muscles. Asanas like Bhujangasana, Shavasana, Anulom-Vilom Pranayam and Surya Namaskar help in improving heart health. These asanas improve blood circulation and keep the heart healthy.
Benefits of yoga
Bhujangasana: Lying on the stomach and raising the upper part of the body. It strengthens the spine and provides relief from back pain.
Shavasana: Lying on the back in a completely relaxed posture. It is helpful in reducing mental stress and relaxing the body.
Anulom-Vilom Pranayam: The process of inhaling from one nostril and exhaling from the other. It helps in increasing lung capacity and keeping the mind calm.

regular practice of yoga

For this, yoga should be practiced daily for 30 to 45 minutes in the morning. Adopt deep breathing exercises for heart. Stay away from stressful thoughts and get enough sleep along with a balanced diet.
