Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, in a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav, said that the people of Uttar Pradesh no longer take his statements and social media posts seriously. He said that the people of the state still remember that period when the pace of development was slow, questions were constantly raised regarding law and order and there was a lack of balanced development in the state. While talking to journalists in Lucknow, Piyush Goyal said that the tweets and political comments made by Akhilesh Yadav no longer influence the public. He claimed that the people of the state are themselves comparing the governance of previous years and the present circumstances and are forming their opinion on this basis.

The Union Minister said that in a democracy, the public is the biggest decider and they remember the tenure of any government or political party for a long time. He said that the people of Uttar Pradesh have closely observed the changes in the field of development, security and infrastructure. Piyush Goyal alleged that during the rule of Samajwadi Party, the state was deprived of many possibilities of development. He said that at that time the expected work in the direction of infrastructure development, attracting investment and employment generation could not be done in many areas of the state. This is why the public later decided to change.

In his statement, the Union Minister also raised the issue of law and order prominently. He said that during the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav, there were continuous discussions about crime and anarchy in the state. There were concerns about security among common citizens and business class. He said that in the present times the identity of Uttar Pradesh is changing and investors are excited to come to the state. A major reason for this is better law and order and administrative system.

According to him, when the security environment in a state is strong, only then industry, trade and employment opportunities grow rapidly there. Piyush Goyal said that the people of the country and the state are now giving priority to the politics of development. He alleged that some political parties have been trying to take political advantage by dividing the society into different classes, but now the public has understood such efforts.

Piyush Goyal also rejected the allegations being made by the opposition. He said that the opposition does not have any concrete agenda on development issues, hence it tries to create a political atmosphere through social media and rhetoric. He said that the public does not just give importance to allegations and counter-accusations, but gives importance to the work visible on the ground. This is why issues like development, good governance and transparency are at the center of political discussion today.
