How did the accident happen?
According to initial investigation findings of Dubai Police, a truck traveling on the road had stopped in the middle of Emirates Road due to mechanical failure. Meanwhile, a minibus full of workers coming from behind collided with the truck. The collision was so severe that the front part of the minibus was badly damaged. Seven people died on the spot or after reaching the hospital in the accident, while nine others were seriously injured.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic of Dubai Police, said that initial investigation revealed that the minibus driver did not exercise sufficient caution and failed to maintain a safe distance. He said that all aspects of the accident are being thoroughly investigated and the entire situation will be clear only after the final report comes.
Investigation is still going on
Officials said that the investigation into the accident has not been completed yet. Police are trying to find out how long the truck was parked on the road, whether necessary warning signs were installed and what the road conditions were at the time of the accident. Also, it has not been made clear as to how many workers were in the minibus at the time of the accident.
Indian Consulate expressed grief
The Indian Consulate in Dubai has expressed deep sorrow over the accident. In a statement released on social media platform X, the embassy said that this news is extremely sad and condolences have been expressed to the affected families. Embassy officials also visited the hospital to inquire about the well being of the injured. Necessary assistance is also being provided by coordinating with the local administration. The statement said that the Government of India and the Consulate stand with the families of the victims in this difficult time.
