Sam Johnstone might find himself with an unexpected opportunity to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers, as Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for the experienced goalkeeper. The 33-year-old is anticipated to exit Molineux this summer, with Wolves planning a revamp of their goalkeeping unit following their relegation to the Championship.
According to reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus are keeping tabs on Emi Martinez after cooling their interest in their initial primary target, Alisson.
Martinez was close to leaving Aston Villa last summer, with a transfer to Manchester United seemingly on the cards, but the deal never came to fruition. The Argentine went on to play a crucial role under Unai Emery, helping Villa secure the Europa League title and a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Although Aston Villa are not actively looking to sell Martinez, a substantial offer could make them reconsider. Any potential movement is unlikely before the World Cup, as Martinez is focused on assisting Argentina in their title defence.
Johnstone, a product of Manchester United’s youth academy, spent loan spells at Walsall and Aston Villa before joining West Bromwich Albion in 2018 for an initial fee of £6.5 million. During his four-year stint there, he made 167 appearances. He later spent two seasons with Crystal Palace before moving to Wolves in 2024. At Molineux, he has featured in 27 matches over two years but missed the closing months of the recent season due to a shoulder injury.
