On Monday, June 8, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assigned departments to 12 newly appointed ministers in the state cabinet. Sarma retained key portfolios such as Home and Political Affairs, Public Works Department (PWD), Electricity, and Information and Public Relations, along with other departments that had not been allocated to any other minister. Among the senior ministers, Ranoj Pegu was given charge of the Education Department, while Ashok Singhal continued to oversee Health and Family Welfare as well as Medical Education and Research. Bimal Borah was entrusted with responsibilities related to Cultural Affairs, Industry, Commerce, Public Enterprises, and the Act East Policy.

The Finance Ministry has been assigned to Jayanta Malla Barua, a close aide of the Chief Minister. Sarma announced on social media that, with the approval of Assam's honorable Governor, he is pleased to declare the allocation of departments among the members of the Assam government council. The 12 ministers took their oaths on June 5, while four other ministers were sworn in alongside the Chief Minister on May 12. The departments for these four ministers had already been announced.
