Didier Deschamps has spoken out about the ongoing transfer rumours surrounding FC Bayern Munich’s winger Michael Olise.

In a conversation with the Spanish sports daily Marca, the French national team coach shared his views on the speculation involving the 24-year-old attacking midfielder who plays for Germany’s most successful club.

Recently, Olise’s name has surfaced in connection with a potential move to Real Madrid. Within the context of the club’s heated presidential election, current president Florentino Pérez and his rival Enrique Riquelme are vying for members’ votes by making ambitious transfer promises—some of which appear quite extravagant.

According to reports, Olise features in those discussions. Last Thursday, Pérez reportedly pledged that, should he secure re-election, he would immediately sanction a €150 million offer for a marquee signing—believed to be the French winger currently at Bayern Munich.

Considering Olise’s impressive form last season, Deschamps admitted he was not surprised that the player had caught Real Madrid’s attention. “I can imagine that he is attracting offers from other clubs as well. I’m not concerned that he wouldn’t be able to perform at the same level elsewhere as he does for Bayern Munich or the French national team,” explained the 57-year-old coach.

When asked about Olise’s future, Deschamps added, “He’s truly a shining talent and one of the best players in the world. He doesn’t seek media attention. What matters most is how he performs on the pitch; off it, he leads his own life, but his progression has been remarkable.”

Nonetheless, the French manager refrained from giving specific advice to his player regarding a potential transfer. “He will know for himself whether staying at FC Bayern Munich or seeking a new challenge suits him better. There’s no right or wrong decision,” Deschamps stated. “If I were in Vincent Kompany’s position or in the role of Bayern’s president, I would naturally be very happy to have him in the squad and would want him to remain at the club.”

Olise remains under contract with FC Bayern Munich until 2029, and club officials have consistently reiterated that the 24-year-old is not available for transfer in the upcoming window.
