New Delhi: The Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the different squads of the Indian team for the upcoming United Kingdom (UK) tour and Asian Games 2026. On the UK tour starting in late June 2026, the Indian team will first play a two-match T20 series against Ireland. After this, Team India will leave for England, where a series of five T20 and three ODI matches will be played with the host team.

Suryakumar Yadav out, Shreyas Iyer becomes new T20 captain

This time, the selectors have made a major reshuffle in the T20 team and have shown the way out to Suryakumar Yadav. In his place, star middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the new captain of the Indian T20 team, while talented young player Tilak Verma has been given the responsibility of vice-captain.

IPL star Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets his first chance

Young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who created a stir with his bat in IPL 2026, has been rewarded for his brilliant performance. Vaibhav has been included in the senior national team for the first time. He batted brilliantly in this season of IPL and scored 776 runs in 16 matches and won the Orange Cap.

Jasprit Bumrah included in Asian Games squad

The board has also announced the Indian contingent for the Asian Games 2026. There has been a major change in the Asian Games team as compared to the main T20 squad of the UK tour. For this Mahakumbh, the selectors have included experienced fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the team, due to which the Indian bowling attack looks very strong.
