Ollie Robinson recorded one of the best spells of his Test career to help England bowl out New Zealand for 113 on the second day of the first Test against the visitors at Lord's. The fast bowler recorded a career-best 5/39 from 10.5 overs, giving England a lead of 27 in their first innings.
After being bowled out for 140, England needed an immediate success with the ball, and Robinson was the man who provided it, shredding New Zealand's top order to put the visitors on the back foot straight away.
The visitors never truly recovered, losing five wickets at the expense of just 20 runs. Devon Conway recorded just one before being sent on his way and a quickfire two-ball spell from Robinson sent Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra on their way for ducks as New Zealand crumbled to 2/3.
Tom Latham attempted to steady the ship, but could only manage three runs before he too fell victim to Atkinson. Robinson later claimed the wickets of Daryl Mitchell (12) and Matt Henry (0) to complete his fifth five-wicket haul in Tests.
Robinson Wrecks New Zealand's Top Order
It was the spell of Robinson that tore New Zealand's strong batting lineup apart with just two runs lost in the space of five wickets.
He accounted for five batters at the expense of 39 runs and ensured England were on top going into their second innings. This is Robinson's best bowling figures in a Test match to date, a performance that came at a perfect time for England, and he was well-supported by Gus Atkinson (2-9) and Josh Tongue (3-40).

Jamieson Fights Back for New Zealand
Lower down the order, some resistance was provided by the all-rounder Kyle Jamieson. The tall man stayed unbeaten on 38 off 29 balls and played a furious innings of 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Glenn Phillips contributed a quickfire 34 runs and Nathan Smith made 15 as all others in the batting lineup failed to score double digits.
New Zealand got bowled out for 113 in 29.5 overs with a deficit of 27 runs behind England.
With a first innings lead and a pitch still assisting the pacers, England put themselves in a commanding position in the game. A career best effort for Robinson proved to be the highlight of the innings as the hosts were now comfortably in the driving seat of this Test.
