The Moldova national team is set to face Bulgaria in an international friendly match at Zimbru Stadium tonight.

The kick-off for the Moldova vs Bulgaria clash is scheduled for 00:00 WIB on Saturday (June 6, 2026) early morning.

As both nations failed to qualify for the World Cup, they will aim to build momentum ahead of the 2026 UEFA Nations League, which is slated to begin in September.

Moldova could not end their poor run of form in their last outing, suffering a 3-2 defeat against Cyprus in a friendly at Stadio Dasaki Achnas on March 30.

That result extended Lilian Popescu’s side’s winless streak to 13 matches across all competitions, with 10 losses and three draws since their narrow 1-0 victory over Andorra in November 2024.

This disappointing spell also saw Moldova miss out on a World Cup spot after a poor qualifying campaign where they finished bottom of Group I with only one point from eight matches.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s perfect record in 2026 came to an end on Monday when they suffered a 1-0 defeat in a friendly against Montenegro at Hristo Botev Stadium.

Aleksandar Dimitrov’s men had previously won three consecutive matches across all competitions, including back-to-back victories over the Solomon Islands and Indonesia in the FIFA Series in March.

Similar to Moldova, Bulgaria also failed to qualify for the World Cup after finishing last in Group E of the qualifiers with three points from six games.

Head-to-Head and Statistics: Moldova vs Bulgaria

This will be the third meeting between Moldova and Bulgaria, with Dimitrov’s side winning both of their previous encounters.

Both past meetings took place during the UEFA European Championship qualifiers, where Bulgaria claimed a 4-1 home win in November 1994, followed by a 3-0 victory at Stadionul Republican five months later.

Moldova have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 matches and have not won any of them since their 1-0 win over Andorra in November 2024.

Bulgaria, on the other hand, are winless in their last six friendly fixtures, recording two losses and four draws since their 1-0 victory against Tanzania in March 2024.

Prediction: Moldova vs Bulgaria

Although neither Moldova nor Bulgaria will feature in the World Cup, both teams are looking ahead to the Nations League later this year and will use this match to build confidence for their respective campaigns.

Despite their loss to Montenegro, Bulgaria appear to be the sharper side heading into the weekend, and they are expected to add further disappointment to Moldova’s ongoing struggles.

Predicted Score: Moldova 1–2 Bulgaria
