The Slovakia national football team is set to host Montenegro in an international friendly match tonight.
The kickoff for the Slovakia vs Montenegro game is scheduled for 11:30 PM WIB on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Neither team will be participating in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America later this month, but both sides view this friendly as an important opportunity to build momentum ahead of the 2026–27 UEFA Nations League campaign.
Slovakia delivered an impressive performance during their World Cup qualifying run, notably defeating Germany 2–0 on their way to finishing second in Group A.
However, they failed to capitalize on home advantage in the playoff semi-final and were eliminated after a 4–3 loss to Kosovo.
Following the departure of head coach Francesco Calzona in April, Vladimír Weiss—renowned for leading Slovakia to their only World Cup appearance as an independent nation in 2010—returned to take charge of the national team last month.
Weiss oversaw his first game back on Monday, when the Sokoli claimed a 2–1 victory over Malta, thanks to goals from Lukáš Haraslín and debutant Roland Galčík.
In World Cup qualifying, Montenegro were placed in Group L alongside teams such as Croatia and the Czech Republic but endured a disappointing campaign, losing five of their eight group matches.
Like their opponents this weekend, the Brave Falcons were also in action on Monday, traveling to the Hristo Botev Stadium in Plovdiv to face Bulgaria.
Montenegro secured a 1–0 win, with 27-year-old striker Balša Sekulić coming off the bench to score his first international goal.
Head-to-Head and Statistics: Slovakia vs Montenegro
Friday’s match will be the third meeting between Slovakia and Montenegro.
The last encounter between the two sides took place in a friendly in December 2022, which ended in a 2–2 draw.
Slovakia’s defeat to Kosovo in March remains their only home loss in the past two years.
Montenegro, on the other hand, have won their last two away games after previously losing seven consecutive matches on the road.
In the latest FIFA World Rankings, Slovakia are positioned 48th, while Montenegro occupy the 81st spot.
Prediction: Slovakia vs Montenegro
Both teams have recorded four wins in their last six matches, suggesting there is little to separate them in terms of form.
However, Slovakia’s home advantage could prove decisive, and the hosts are tipped to edge out Montenegro if they maintain their current preparation and focus.
