World famous situated amidst the high peaks of the Himalayas in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand Valley of Flowers That means ‘Valley of Flowers’ has been opened for the general public and trekkers.
Situated at an altitude of about 3,600 meters above sea level, this beautiful valley is completely covered with white sheets of snow during the winter months. Due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather, it remains closed from November to May every year and is opened for tourists with the beginning of June. This year also this valley will remain open till 31st October, where you can see the most unique colors of nature live amidst the monsoon showers.
UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to rare creatures
Spread over a vast area of about 87 square kilometers, this National Park is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites due to its unique beauty. The biggest specialty here is that with the onset of monsoon the entire valley turns into a carpet of colorful flowers.

More than 600 flower species: Here you will find more than 600 species of rare and colorful flowers like orchids, poppies, primulas, marigolds and anemones, which scent the entire valley between May and September.

Rare Wildlife: Apart from flowers, this national park is also the natural habitat of many extremely rare and protected creatures like Musk Deer, Gray Langur, Lime Butterfly, Himalayan Weasel, Black-brown Bear and Snow Leopard.
How to get registration and e-permit for travel?
Since this beautiful valley is located very close to Sri Hemkund Sahib, the holy pilgrimage site of the Sikhs, the Uttarakhand government has made some strict and systematic rules for the safety of all the travelers visiting here:

Tourist Registration: Before setting out on a trip, it is mandatory to register yourself on the official ‘Tourist Care Uttarakhand’ portal of Uttarakhand government or their mobile app.

Forest Department Permit: To enter the Valley of Flowers National Park, you have to obtain an e-permit from the Uttarakhand Forest Department. This permit can also be taken online from the official website of Uttarakhand Tourism.
An important advice for trekkers
If you do not want to miss your travel dates at the last moment due to bad weather or any technical glitch, then the best way is to reach the base camp ‘Ghangaria’ and take an offline permit from the forest check post located there one evening before the trek. This permit remains valid for 3 consecutive days.
