Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Xavi Simons has sparked speculation about the possible arrival of his former PSV Eindhoven teammate Savinho in north London, as the Brazilian winger edges closer to leaving Manchester City after two seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham are currently in discussions with Manchester City regarding the transfer of Savinho, who is reportedly no longer part of the club’s long-term plans. The 22-year-old endured a challenging 2025-26 campaign under Pep Guardiola, struggling to secure regular playing time and make a consistent impact.

Spurs had shown interest in signing Savinho last summer, but Manchester City refused to sanction the move at that time. Instead, the winger extended his contract with the Premier League champions until 2031. However, after another season of limited opportunities, City appear more open to negotiating his departure this time.

Formal talks have now been initiated between Tottenham and City. The Manchester club are believed to value Savinho at around £60 million. Following a disappointing Premier League season in which Tottenham narrowly avoided relegation, the north London side are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer market.

With negotiations ongoing between Manchester City’s director of football Hugo Viana and Tottenham’s management team, Xavi Simons has fueled speculation by hinting at a reunion with Savinho. The Dutch midfielder’s social media activity has intensified rumours that the deal could soon be completed.

The Brazilian winger is reportedly keen on moving to Tottenham after two seasons in England’s top flight, during which he struggled for consistent minutes amidst intense competition in City’s attacking lineup. Despite flashes of brilliance, Savinho failed to establish himself as a regular starter under Guardiola.

Manchester City have already strengthened their attacking options with the January signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. The Ghanaian forward has made an impressive start at the Etihad, leading many to believe that City are prepared to part ways with Savinho.

Nevertheless, sources suggest that City will continue to monitor the market for potential attacking reinforcements. Should Savinho complete his move to Tottenham, both Hugo Viana and incoming manager Enzo Maresca are expected to explore replacements with similar profiles.

There is also growing uncertainty surrounding the future of forward Omar Marmoush, who has attracted interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. If Marmoush also departs, City would likely be compelled to reinvest in their frontline to maintain depth and versatility in attack.
