The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the application process for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets. Although some students have reported difficulties regarding the application process, the window for applying for the re-evaluation of Class 12 papers has finally opened. While this has brought relief to a large number of students, the lack of clarity regarding the schedule for the CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation remains a cause for concern among students and parents. For instance, when exactly will CBSE release the results of the Class 12 re-evaluation? The Board has not yet provided any information regarding this. Consequently, students and parents find themselves in a state of confusion. As a result, their plans regarding college admissions have become complicated.
Let us examine the entire matter in detail. Let us understand how CBSE's failure to announce a specific date for the release of the Class 12 re-evaluation results has become a source of distress for students and parents this year.
Applications Accepted Until June 6; But When Will the Results Be Released?
CBSE activated the application portal for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets on June 2. Along with this, the Board released an incomplete schedule for the re-evaluation process, under which students may apply for the re-evaluation of their Class 12 papers until midnight on June 6. CBSE has explicitly stated that applications submitted after this deadline will not be accepted. However, the Board has not specified when it intends to release the re-evaluation results. While CBSE typically does not announce a specific date for this, given the prevailing circumstances this year, it is imperative that the date for the release of these results be clearly defined.
Choice Filling Until June 10; Seat Allotment on June 13
In reality, a decline has been observed in the CBSE Class 12 results this year. The results for the Science stream have witnessed a particularly significant drop. Many students have secured marks below the 75 percent threshold. Consequently, many students have become ineligible for admission to IITs, NITs, and IIITs, despite having secured good scores in the JEE. These students are now anxiously awaiting the timely completion of the CBSE Class 12 answer sheet re-evaluation process and the subsequent release of results. This urgency stems from the fact that the JoSAA 2026 counseling process for admissions to IITs, NITs, and IIITs has already commenced; under this process, candidates are permitted to fill in their choices regarding preferred seats and institutions until June 10. Based on these submissions, the first round of seat allotment is scheduled to take place on June 13. All in all, a significant number of students are pinning their hopes on the timely release of the CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation results. Such a release would enable them to participate in the JoSAA counseling process on time; however, CBSE has yet to provide any concrete information regarding the results, a silence that is only serving to heighten the confusion and anxiety among students and parents.
**CBSE's Credibility Takes a Hit**
Undoubtedly, CBSE's primary objective would be to release the re-evaluation results on schedule so that students can participate in the JoSAA counseling. However, the board's systems have caused considerable distress to students throughout the month of May. For instance, various interactions with the CBSE administration have turned into sources of frustration for students. Major contributing factors to this distress include difficulties in obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets, discrepancies found within the copies, poor-quality (blurred) scans, complications related to the application and fee submission process for obtaining scanned copies, instances of missing answer sheets, and delays in activating the re-evaluation portal despite prior official announcements. In light of these issues, CBSE's credibility has taken a significant hit among both students and parents. The question of whether or not CBSE will be able to release the re-evaluation results for Class 12 answer sheets on time has now become a major cause for concern among the student and parent community.
