
New Delhi, June 2. Taking action amid the growing controversy over on-screen marking (OSM) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Central Government has transferred CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta. Along with this, a one-member committee has been constituted to examine the process adopted by CBSE for awarding the contract for OSM services.

Committee chairperson S. Radha Chauhan will be the chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission. The chairperson of the committee has the right to take the help of officials from other offices as per the need. The Capacity Building Commission will provide secretarial assistance to the committee. This committee will submit its report to the Department of Personnel and Training within a month.
On the other hand, sources in the Education Ministry said that cyber security agencies of the Government of India like the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) are keeping a close watch on the cyber attacks on the CBSE OSM Revaluation Portal. Strict action will be taken against those who do so.
NSUI filed petition against OSM system
Meanwhile, the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday requesting an independent probe into the alleged large-scale irregularities in the CBSE’s on-screen marking system for Class 12.
It is noteworthy that OSM is a digital system of evaluation of answer sheets, in which the answer sheets of the students are scanned and uploaded online and the examiners give marks by checking them on the computer screen.
In the PIL filed by NSUI, a request has been made to conduct offline re-evaluation and physical verification of the answer sheets of the complaining students. The vacation bench of the court can hear the case on June 8.
