WhatsApp Scam Alert New Feature: WhatsApp It is a medium through which crores of people of the country are connected today, but it has also been seen that with time the risk of online fraud and cyber scams has also increased. But now the company is going to take a big step to stop this. Reports have revealed that the messaging app may soon launch a new feature called Scam Alert. The features inside which will help in identifying suspicious and fake messages and will alert before any possible fraud and this step is being taken in view of the increasing cases of WhatsApp scams, fake loan offers, fake job messages and banking frauds. Which will be a protective shield for the people.
Will keep an eye on messages coming from unknown numbers
WABetaInfo report said that the new upcoming feature will be first seen in the Android Beta version of WhatsApp. In which the Scam Alert system will especially focus on those messages which have been sent from an unknown number. At the same time, if there are signs to fraud or scam in any message, then the user will start seeing a warning inside the chat window itself. You will also get information that the person sending the message is not included in your contact list. After the kiss, if the user wishes, he can immediately block and report that number. But in this situation, if the message seems safe then the option to continue the conversation will also be available.
Privacy will not be affected
While talking about its new feature, WhatsApp also claims that this feature will work completely on the device only. Which simply means that here no message will be sent to Meta or WhatsApp servers for checking and the entire process of identifying suspicious messages will happen in the user’s smartphone itself. Due to which end-to-end encryption will be completely secure and private conversations will not be affected. It is also being told in the information that this technology will be much like the Voice Transcript feature of WhatsApp which converts audio messages into text in the phone itself.
Complete control will be in the hands of the user
The report revealed that the company is also working on a Transparency Tool. With the help of which users will be able to see when and on which messages the Scam Alert feature is being activated. The most important thing about this is that these logs will remain completely private and will not be shared with WhatsApp. The company can keep this feature off by default and interested users will be able to turn it on by going to Settings.
But know one thing that currently the Scam Alert feature is in the development stage. Regarding which it is expected that in the coming months it will be released first for beta testers and then for all WhatsApp users.
