The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has exposed a sensational murder case about 9 years old and arrested the accused who was absconding for a long time. Police have arrested accused Chandan Kumar from Lakhisarai district of Bihar. According to the police, Chandan Kumar along with his brother Kundan Kumar and brother-in-law Kamal Kumar had conspired to murder a woman. It is alleged that all three had committed this crime out of greed to grab the insurance amount of Rs 50 lakh and the property of the woman. Investigation revealed that the accused first murdered the woman in a planned manner and then tried to claim insurance and take possession of the house.
After the incident, the investigation of the case started, in which the role of two accused had already come to light, while Chandan Kumar was continuously absconding. On the basis of technical surveillance and secret information, the Crime Branch team raided Lakhisarai, Bihar and arrested the accused. Police say that after the arrest, many important facts to the case have been received, on the basis of which further investigation is being done.
According to the police, on August 22, 2017, the body of 43-year-old Anita Devi was found in a blood-soaked condition in a house in Ajit Vihar, Burari. Anita Devi was murdered by slitting her throat. Seeing the condition of the incident site, there was a sensation in the area. After the incident, the deceased’s brother Kamal Kumar had told the police that Anita’s husband had murdered her. In the initial investigation, the matter seemed to be to family dispute and mutual enmity. However, when the police started a thorough investigation, many shocking facts came to light in the case.
Out of greed, brother killed his own sister
However, a thorough investigation by the police revealed that there was a well-planned conspiracy behind the murder. During investigation, it was revealed that Anita Devi had made her brother Kamal Kumar the nominee in a life insurance policy worth Rs 50 lakh. Apart from this, the house situated in Burari was also given to the name of Kamal Kumar’s son through the will. According to the police, Kamal Kumar, who was deeply in debt, conspired to murder along with his brothers-in-law Chandan Kumar and Kundan Kumar in the greed of getting the insurance money and property. After committing the crime, the accused tried to present the case in such a way that suspicion would fall on Anita’s husband, but during the investigation the conspiracy was exposed. Kamal Kumar was arrested in the case in the year 2017 itself. Meanwhile, Chandan Kumar and Kundan Kumar had absconded. Due to their continuous absence, the court had declared both of them as Proclaimed Offenders in the year 2018.
Recently, the Crime Branch received information through technical surveillance that Chandan Kumar is hiding in Lakhisarai district of Bihar. After this the police team raided there and arrested him. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the conspiracy and his role in the murder. During the investigation, the police also came to know that Chandan’s brother and co-accused Kundan Kumar was found dead near a railway station near their village in the year 2018. The police have also confirmed his death certificate. According to Delhi Police, necessary legal process is being completed in the case and further action is underway against the arrested accused.
