Hyundai has some really big plans for the Indian market. Amid raising competition, the South Korean automaker has confirmed along with a locally developed compact EV SUV. While the product names and details are still under the wraps, the upcoming lineup is expected to include the third-generation Hyundai Creta and a Hyundai Bayon-based midsize SUV.

In Hyundai’s product portfolio, the new Bayon-based SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta. It will be sold alongside the all-new Creta, and directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The new Hyundai midsize SUV is scheduled to launch in India in FY2026-2027.
New Hyundai Midsize SUV – What to Expect? Codenamed Bc4i, the new Hyundai Bayon SUV is expected to measure around 4.18 metres in length and could be offered with multiple engine options. Compared to its European counterpart, the India-bound model is expected to be larger and feature a more upright stance. Speculation suggest that Hyundai might introduce the SUV with a naturally aspirated petrol engine and a CNG powertrain. As Hyundai models are known for their premium and feature-rich interiors, the new midsize SUV is expected to follow the same approach. Global-Spec Bayon Engine & Gearbox Options The global-spec Hyundai Bayon shares its platform with the i20 hatchback, and comes with three engine options – a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol (84PS/188Nm), a 1.0L TGDi turbo petrol (100PS/172Nm) and a 1.0L TGDi 48V mild hybrid (100PS/120PS & 172Nm). The 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol engine can be had either with a 6-sped manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. The mild hybrid powertrain comes with 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT gearbox options. Feature-Packed Interior Similar to the global-spec Hyundai Bayon, the new Hyundai midsize is expected to be packed with several modern features. The equipment list might include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, wireless smartphone charging, rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, Hyundai BlueLink connected car tech, premium audio system, multiple airbags, ESC, TPMS and more.
