Former Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof has had a successful first season after leaving Old Trafford.

The Swedish defender moved from SL Benfica to Manchester United in 2017 under the management of Jose Mourinho.

During his eight-year spell with the Red Devils, Lindelof made 284 appearances and scored four goals.

While at the club, he lifted both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, marking a memorable chapter in his career.

However, under manager Ruben Amorim, Lindelof found game time limited and decided to leave Manchester United as a free agent last summer.

The 31-year-old then joined Aston Villa, where he has enjoyed an excellent debut season.

Aston Villa not only clinched the Europa League title but also secured a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.

Lindelof featured in 28 matches across all competitions, including starting in the Europa League semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest and the final against Freiburg.

Having signed a two-year contract in 2025, Lindelof remains tied to Villa Park for another season.

Currently preparing to lead Sweden as captain at the upcoming World Cup, Lindelof was recently asked about his future at Aston Villa.

In a conversation with Fotboll Skanalen, he reaffirmed his commitment to staying with the Birmingham-based club. When asked if he wished to remain in the city, he said, “Yes, that’s the goal right now. My body feels good, so I have a good feeling. I have played with constant pain before, so being pain-free gives an extra boost.”

When questioned about a possible return to Sweden to play in the domestic league, Lindelof responded, “I don’t think so. I don’t see myself coming home to the Allsvenskan and playing. I’ve never played there, so it would be fun, but if I know myself right, I don’t think it’s possible.”
