Nowadays, due to changing lifestyles, irregular eating habits, and lack of exercise, the problem of fatty liver is rapidly increasing. Not only alcoholics but also the general public are at risk of this disease. According to a recent study, approximately 38 percent of the country's population suffers from some form of fatty liver problem.

Importantly, many people fail to recognize the early symptoms of this disease. Consequently, delaying treatment increases the risk of permanent liver damage. If not treated promptly, serious diseases such as cirrhosis can develop.

What is fatty liver?

The liver is the largest organ in the human body. Its essential functions include storing fat to provide the body with essential energy, removing toxins, and aiding in digestion. However, if the amount of fat in the liver exceeds 5 to 10 percent of the total body weight, it is called fatty liver disease. In this condition, fat accumulates in the liver.

Types of Fatty Liver
Fatty liver is mainly of two types.

Alcoholic fatty liver
is caused by excessive alcohol consumption, which causes fat to accumulate in the liver. This type can occur if you drink alcohol for a long time.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver:
This type is not related to alcohol. A high-fat diet, metabolic disorders like diabetes, and a sedentary lifestyle can all contribute to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

5 early symptoms of fatty liver

Fat around the stomach:
If your weight is increasing despite taking a healthy diet, or fat is accumulating especially around the stomach, then this could be an early sign of fatty liver.

Constant fatigue:
If you feel tired throughout the day even after getting enough sleep and rest, it could be a sign that the liver is not doing its job of removing toxins from the body properly.

Digestive complaints:
Don't ignore nausea, bloating, or frequent indigestion after eating fried or oily foods. This could be the beginning of a liver problem.

Skin changes like
darkening of the skin on the neck or armpits, itching of the skin, or slight yellowing of the skin can also be symptoms of liver-related problems.

Upper abdominal pain
Feeling of heaviness in the upper right part of the abdomen can be an early sign of fat accumulation or inflammation in the liver.
