Let us tell you, this incident took place on Saturday in Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district, when Diamond Harbor MP Abhishek Banerjee was going to meet the family of a TMC worker killed in post-poll violence. It is alleged that the crowd present on the way started throwing stones and eggs at his convoy. Not only this, during this time some people also pushed him and slogans were raised against him.

BJP accused

TMC says that this attack was carried out in a well-planned manner by BJP supporters. During this, the party released some photographs and alleged that local BJP leaders were present at the spot and were instigating the crowd. TMC also said that some people involved in the attack have links with BJP.

Whereas BJP has completely rejected these allegations. BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya claimed that some of the arrested people had been close to TMC leaders in the past. BJP says that this matter may be to the internal dispute and factionalism of TMC, and not to BJP.

Five people arrested

According to the police, after examining the CCTV and video footage of the area, an overnight raid was conducted and five people were arrested. Along with this, FIR has been registered after taking cognizance of the matter, because no formal complaint was given by any party after the incident.

Let us tell you, after the attack, Abhishek Banerjee was taken to a private hospital in Kolkata for treatment, where he was discharged after first aid. During this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the hospital to inquire about his well being and held BJP responsible for this incident. At present, the police is investigating the entire matter and trying to find out what was the real reason behind the attack.
