New Delhi. Central government employees have been waiting for the 8th Pay Commission for a long time. After the process of formation of the commission has started, the biggest question among the employees is how much their basic salary can increase if the new recommendations are implemented. Especially its maximum impact can be seen on the employees of 1800 to 4600 grade pay (Level-1 to Level-7).

According to experts’ estimates, if the fitment factor is kept at 1.92 in the 8th Pay Commission, then there will be a big increase in the basic salary of the employees. Whereas as per the demand of employee organizations, if the fitment factor is fixed at 2.86 or more, then the salary increase can be higher.

Possible new basic salary from level-1 to level-7

Level-1: Old basic salary ₹18,000, probable basic at 1.92 fitment factor ₹34,560 and probable basic at 2.86 fitment factor ₹51,480.

What will happen to Dearness Allowance (DA)?

With the implementation of every new pay commission, the existing dearness allowance is absorbed into the basic pay. After this the calculation of DA starts again from zero percent. This is the reason why DA appears less separately in the initial period of implementation of the new salary, but increasing the basic salary has a positive impact on the total salary.

When can the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

The process regarding the 8th Pay Commission is progressing at the government level. It is believed that its recommendations can be considered effective from January 1, 2026. However, after the Commission’s report, government approval and financial approval, it is expected that the actual benefits will be available to the employees in the early months of 2027. In such a situation, employees can also get the benefit of arrears.
