Rajasthan Royals lost the second qualifier game on Friday to Gujarat Titans (GT) by seven wickets to be eliminated from the IPL 2026 season. Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshiwho is currently leading the run-scoring charts with 776 runs, was seen crestfallen after the loss and had tears in his eyes.

Former Indian pace legend cautions young batting star

Ex-India pacer Zaheer Khan had huge words of praise for Sooryavanshi after his terrific batting in the IPL 2026 season. Zaheer also cautioned the young prodigy that other teams could figure out his batting technique and asked the batter to work hard on his game to stay ahead of the opposition.

The 47-year-old, in his chat with Cricbuzz after the GT vs RR game, said, “For a player to have this kind of a season, he cannot bat in just one fashion. At some stage, other sides are going to figure it out and try different things. Gujarat tried different things today, andeven SRH have tried different tactics. Questions will be asked, and the youngster has to stay on top of the game.”

India’s former World Cup winner then praised the southpaw for his mature knock, where he continued to score runs at a quick pace despite wickets falling at the other end. Khan said, “He was batting with a good strike, even though it was slow compared to some of his other knocks, but still managed to score his 96 with a strike-rate above 200. What excites me is that he plays according to the situations.”
