After better performance in the civic elections of Punjab and Panchayat elections of Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its political activities in Uttar Pradesh. In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the party has set a target of making 50 lakh new members across the state. For this, the organization is being activated at state, district, tehsil and booth level.
According to party sources, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh is continuously busy in finalizing the election strategy by holding meetings with the officials and workers of Uttar Pradesh. The party is trying to strengthen its hold in UP on the basis of Delhi and Punjab model. However, the party did not get the expected success in the last assembly elections.
Free electricity and better education-health will become an issue
Aam Aadmi Party is also preparing to make free electricity, better government education and health services the main election issues in Uttar Pradesh on the lines of Delhi and Punjab. Party leaders believe that the BJP government can be cornered among the public on issues like rising inflation and employment.
However, political experts believe that caste equations play an important role in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see to what extent AAP is able to influence the voters on the basis of its development model and public welfare schemes.
Preparation to strengthen the organization from village to village
The party is forming new teams in all districts, tehsils, blocks and villages as part of the organization expansion campaign. The workers have also been entrusted with the responsibility of studying area-wise social and caste equations. The party leadership is also working on a strategy to select potential candidates based on the social composition of different assembly constituencies.
Possibilities of alliance with small parties
According to sources, Aam Aadmi Party is also exploring possibilities of alliance with small and regional parties to challenge BJP in Uttar Pradesh. From Purvanchal to Western Uttar Pradesh, various social groups and local political equations are being monitored. The party leadership has entrusted the responsibility of organization and election preparations in the state to many senior leaders including Sanjay Singh.
Political analysts believe that if the Aam Aadmi Party achieves success in its membership campaign and organization expansion, then it can try to strengthen its presence and influence in the politics of the state in the upcoming assembly elections.
