New Delhi. In the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026, played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Gujarat Titans gave a strong performance and defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets and entered the final. The hero of this match was captain Shubman Gill, who took the team on the path to victory by scoring a historic century.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bat first and young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a brilliant inning of 96 runs in an explosive manner. Apart from them, Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja also made useful contributions, due to which Rajasthan scored a big score of 214/6 in 20 overs.
However, even such a big target proved to be small in front of the aggressive batting of Gujarat Titans. Gujarat’s chase of the target had a very explosive start. The opening pair of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan completely changed the course of the match by adding 167 runs for the first wicket.
Gill, while playing the captaincy innings, played an explosive inning of 104 runs in just 53 balls. His innings included 15 fours and 3 brilliant sixes. On the other hand, Sai Sudarshan also gave excellent support by scoring 58 runs in 32 balls. Both the batsmen did not give Rajasthan bowlers a chance to make a comeback at any stage.
Gujarat Titans achieved this target in just 18.4 overs and once again proved how dangerous this team can prove to be in big matches. With this victory, Gujarat has reached the IPL final for the third time.
With this match, Shubman Gill made many historical records in his name. He has become the first captain to score a century in the IPL playoffs. Apart from this, he also achieved many achievements by scoring brilliant runs in a single season, which further strengthened his name in the record books.
