Tehran, May 30. Iran is adamant on the management of the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bagai has clarified that no agreement has been finalized yet with America. In a telephone interview with state TV channel IRIB, Bagai said on the agreement with the US that the two sides were continuing to exchange messages, Xinhua news agency reported. This statement has come at a time when US President Donald Trump made public his conditions for a possible agreement with Iran, saying that he will take a decision on it soon. Bagai reiterated that Iran’s current focus in the talks is on ending the war.
“At this stage we are not discussing the details of Iran’s uranium enrichment or the issues to enriched uranium,” he said. Talking about the possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Bagai said that the future management of the Strait belongs only to Iran and Oman. Earlier in a social media post, US President Donald Trump stated his demands, “Iran will have to agree that they will never have any nuclear weapon or bomb.” Trump said, “The Strait of Hormuz should be opened immediately and there should be no duty on the movement of ships in both directions. All mines laid in the water will be removed.”
He also said that the naval blockade imposed by America will now be lifted. “The United States will locate and destroy Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” he said. Regarding financial compensation demanded by Iran for the war, Trump said, “Until further notice, no money will be exchanged.” It is noteworthy that the war between Iran, America and Israel lasted for 40 days. After this, ceasefire was declared on 8 April.
