Head coach Nova Arianto has officially named a 23-player squad for Indonesia’s U-19 national team to compete in the 2026 ASEAN U-19 Championship.
The tournament, previously known as the AFF U-19 Cup, will mark Nova Arianto’s debut in an official competition as head coach.
After successfully guiding Indonesia’s U-17 national team to qualify for the World Cup, Nova is now laying the groundwork for the future of Garuda Nusantara.
The main objective remains clear—building a strong foundation to help the national team reach the highest levels of international football with solid preparation.
The championship will be held in North Sumatra from 1 to 13 June.
As predicted, Nova has given significant opportunities to players who previously represented the U-17 national team.
Several overseas-based players have also been called up, including Eizar Jacob (Sydney FC), Mathew Baker (Melbourne City), Timothy Baker (Western United), Amar Brkic (SV Darmstadt 1898), Zinadein A (Sydney FC), and Welber Jardim (Sao Paulo FC).
This selection signals the intent of Garuda Nusantara to maintain squad consistency heading into the AFC and World Cup qualifiers.
Reno Salampessy, son of Persipura Jayapura legend Ricardo Salampessy, has also earned a place in the squad.
Persija Jakarta contributes the largest number of players with six names included, reflecting the club’s strong youth development program following their success in the 2025/2026 Elite Pro Academy competition.
Indonesia’s campaign will begin against Myanmar on 1 June at 20:00 WIB, followed by a match against Timor Leste on 4 June at the same time. The toughest group stage fixture will come on 7 June at 20:00 WIB when Baker and teammates face Vietnam.
Three group winners will automatically advance to the semifinals, along with one best runner-up.
