The Chelsea midfielder is taking additional measures to ensure his departure from West London this summer.
Enzo Fernandez, currently playing for Chelsea, is preparing to increase his efforts to leave the club ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Enzo joined Chelsea in January 2023 for what was then a British-record transfer fee exceeding £100 million and has since featured in more than 150 matches for the Blues.
The World Cup-winning midfielder, who was ranked No.11 in FourFourTwo’s list of the best central midfielders globally, has netted 28 goals and provided 29 assists during his time at Stamford Bridge.
During his tenure, Enzo has captured two major titles with Chelsea — the UEFA Conference League in 2024 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.
In both competitions, he was named in the Team of the Season and Team of the Tournament respectively, delivering a standout performance in the Conference League final against Real Betis by contributing both a goal and an assist in Chelsea’s 4-1 victory.
The Argentine previously hinted at a possible move away from Chelsea during an interview with Luzo TV, when asked which European city he would prefer to live in.
“I always tell my wife that if I had to choose a city in Europe to live in, I’d love Madrid because it’s very similar to Buenos Aires in terms of lifestyle and everything,” said the 25-year-old midfielder.
Those remarks reportedly did not go down well with Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior, who told the media last Friday before Chelsea’s FA Cup match against Port Vale that the midfielder’s comments had “crossed the line.”
Consequently, Enzo was dropped from the FA Cup squad — a game Chelsea comfortably won 7-0 — and he will also miss this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Manchester City.
As per reports from Spanish television programme El Chiringuito de Jugones, later echoed by GOAL, the 25-year-old is preparing to hand in an official transfer request to leave Chelsea this summer, aiming to secure a move to Real Madrid.
The main stumbling block appears to be Chelsea’s valuation of their star midfielder, which could reach as high as €150 million.
In reaction, Real Madrid may look to postpone formal negotiations until late August in hopes of pressuring Chelsea into reducing their asking price for Enzo.
Liam Rosenior’s team will continue their pursuit of Champions League qualification with this weekend’s Super Sunday clash against Manchester City — a match in which Enzo Fernandez will once again be absent.
