The ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court over issues linked to the NEET examination witnessed key submissions from the Centre and members of the High-Powered Committee formed to review the examination process. Former ISRO chairman and High-Powered Committee chief Radhakrishnan appeared before the bench in person during the proceedings.

The matter comes amid continued concerns surrounding the conduct of NEET and the steps being taken to strengthen the examination system ahead of the upcoming test scheduled for June 21.

High-Powered Committee Shares Update In Court

During the hearing, Radhakrishnan informed the Supreme Court that the committee had submitted a total of 60 recommendations in 2024 to improve the examination process and security framework.

According to the submissions made before the bench, several of these recommendations have already been implemented by the concerned authorities. He also told the court that the 2025 examination had been conducted successfully following the adoption of multiple reforms and monitoring measures.

The developments were presented as part of the Centre’s response regarding efforts being made to ensure a transparent and secure examination system for students appearing in NEET.

Centre Assures Supreme Court Of Strict Measures

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that authorities are taking extensive precautions to ensure that the upcoming examination is conducted without any issues.

“Honourable Prime Minister is personally monitoring the matter,” the Solicitor General said during the hearing.

The Centre also informed the court that preparations for the June 21 examination are being carried out carefully, with several measures already in place to strengthen examination security and management.

Supreme Court Expresses Concern Over Student Issues

While hearing the matter, the Supreme Court directed the Centre to ensure that the examination process is conducted properly and asked the government to submit its detailed response in the case.

The bench also acknowledged the concerns faced by students during the controversy surrounding the examination process.

Responding to the submissions made before it, the court observed that it was “a matter of serious concern that students had to face such a situation.”

The next hearing in the matter is expected to take place in the second week of July, when the court is likely to review further developments and responses filed by the Centre.
