Barcelona have reportedly finalised personal terms with Marcus Rashford as Hansi Flick pushes to retain the Manchester United forward. Despite Rashford’s willingness to remain in Catalunya, Manchester United are said to be holding firm on their €30 million (£25m/$34m) valuation.
Flick urges Barcelona to keep Rashford
Barcelona are actively working to secure Rashford’s stay after a direct request from their coach Hansi Flick. As per reports from Sport, the German manager considers the England international a key part of his offensive strategy and wants the club to prioritise his signing. Initially, the La Liga champions viewed a permanent deal as challenging due to financial limitations.
However, Flick is reportedly not convinced by the younger attacking options identified by the club, prompting Barcelona to concentrate their efforts on Rashford. The forward has allegedly supported discussions by agreeing to personal terms that comply with the club’s wage policy. Rashford is understood to have accepted a longer contract duration and a reduced salary package to facilitate the transfer.
Manchester United stand firm on their price
Manchester United’s stance has reportedly remained unchanged throughout talks with Barcelona. The Premier League side are unwilling to lower the €30 million fee that has already been discussed. Furthermore, United are said to be against extending the existing loan deal and are instead pushing for a permanent exit.
Barcelona, on the other hand, believe Rashford’s determination to remain with them might eventually help reach a middle ground. The England forward is reportedly not open to returning to Old Trafford and has shown no interest in offers from other clubs.
Rashford’s determination strengthens Barcelona’s position
Rashford’s clear intention to stay at Camp Nou has complicated Manchester United’s position, even though they still hold his registration. Reports indicate that the player is resisting any alternative transfer options, giving Barcelona more leverage in negotiations.
Barcelona are now considering alternative structures for the deal. One possibility is a renewed loan arrangement that includes a mandatory purchase clause in 2027, potentially at a reduced fee once Rashford enters the final year of his United contract. This setup would allow the Blaugrana to postpone major payments while ensuring compliance with La Liga’s financial regulations.
Barcelona look for a financial resolution
The Catalan club are reportedly in no hurry to conclude the discussions and feel that time could work in their favour. However, Rashford is said to want a resolution before pre-season training begins, as he wishes to avoid returning to Manchester United. Negotiations are expected to continue as both clubs aim to establish a financial structure that suits all parties. A compromise involving deferred payments or an adjusted buyout clause could ultimately be necessary to finalise the transfer.
