Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday remembered the opposition alliance ‘India Alliance’. Mamata Banerjee, who distanced herself from the India alliance in the last Lok Sabha elections, is coming closer to it. After losing the Bengal Assembly elections on May 4, he said on Sunday that the parties included in the India Alliance may meet in the first week of June. A joint strategy is likely to be discussed in this.

He said that the opposition camp is ready for a long political battle. Mamta said in a Facebook live address, ‘We are ready to fight. We will not give up till the end.

Accused of election rigging

Using the platform to launch a fresh attack on the BJP, the Trinamool Congress supremo alleged massive election rigging. He claimed that the results in favor of his party in about 150 assembly constituencies were overturned. Mamata said, ‘The won seats were converted into lost seats and the lost seats were converted into won seats.’

Serious questions raised on SIR process

The Trinamool supremo reiterated allegations of irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive of voter lists and election processes, claiming that the election process was compromised. “Initially around 60 lakh names were removed through the SIR process,” he alleged. Although many names were later restored, we have information that indicates manipulation and irregularities at various stages.

Mamata said that Trinamool Congress will resort to legal measures in those constituencies where questions remain regarding the conduct of the election process.

BJP hit back

He claimed that if this had not happened, Trinamool Congress would have got 220 to 230 seats. Rejecting these allegations, senior BJP leader Kia Ghosh accused Mamata of refusing to accept the election results and trying to justify the defeat through conspiracy theories. Ghosh raised questions as to why the Trinamool Congress chief was now raising concerns over the election process when her party had accepted the elections won in 2011, 2016 and 2021 as legitimate.

Mamta is unable to accept defeat

Ghosh said, ‘He is unable to face defeat and is not ready to accept it. If the elections of 2011, 2016 and 2021 were fair, then why are you suddenly raising questions now? Mamta is disregarding the Constitution by spreading conspiracy theories. For them, victory means booth capturing, violence and attacking political opponents.
