Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja are facing controversy over claims linked to their luxury Notting Hill property.
Sonam, who is the daughter of Indian movie star Anil Kapoor, along with her husband Anand, purchased multiple flats in the same building as their £21 million mansion with plans to convert them into staff accommodation.
The couple, who are parents to two children, bought the 200-year-old west London property in 2023 and have now planned to completely gut it.
They have made a proposition that they plan to tear everything inside the premises but keep the outer four walls. Inside, they plan to build a basement swimming pool as well as a subterranean basketball court.
As per Daily Mail, residents of the area have alleged that the couple’s purchase of five flats will give them power and lead to undue influence over the management board of their block.
One resident said “We are afraid of speaking out because we don’t want to get sued by billionaires. They have already made threats after some of us spoke to the press.”
The claims also suggest tensions with neighbours escalated after alleged threats the units could be turned into social housing if complaints continued.
