Current IPL champion Royal Challengers Bangalore has once again made it to the playoffs. The team captained by Rajat Patidar remained in the top-2 in the points table in IPL 2026 and thus, it will stake a claim for the final in the first qualifier itself. The team got this success in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad where it stopped SRH from achieving the number-1 position. However, Bengaluru could not win this match and thus, like many other teams, RCB could not break the fort of Hyderabad in which SRH's 100 percent record remains intact.

Hyderabad's spotless record remains intact

Hyderabad and Bengaluru This match was played on 22 May. In this match, Hyderabad batted first and made a big score of 255 runs. He needed such a score because SRH needed to win by at least 87-88 runs to reach the top-2. Hyderabad won this match but could not stop RCB within 166 runs. In this way, even after winning, Hyderabad did not get any special benefit, whereas even after losing, RCB did not suffer any loss.

Even though the first or second place slipped from SRH's hands, the team succeeded in maintaining one of its records. This record is to never lose after scoring more than 220 runs. Records show that till date SRH has scored more than 220 while batting first in IPL 12 times and every time the team has successfully defended its score. That means Hyderabad has won all the 12 matches with a score of more than 220 while batting first. In this way his score line is 12-0, which is very special in itself.

Most crossed 200 in a season

Not only this, Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by Pat Cummins, has crossed the 200-run mark in an innings for the 9th time this season. This is a new record in IPL. Till now, apart from Hyderabad, Punjab Kings (2025 and 2026), Bengaluru (2026) and Gujarat Titans (2025) had done this feat 8 times each. Now Hyderabad has gone ahead. The team can improve this record in the playoffs. However, Punjab and Bengaluru also have a chance to match it.
