Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire has been left out of England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as reported by journalists Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs.

Maguire has been a vital part of the Red Devils’ campaign this season, featuring in 24 matches across all competitions.

However, England manager Thomas Tuchel has decided not to include the defender in his final World Cup selection for next month’s tournament.

The official squad announcement is expected soon, with some of Maguire’s Manchester United teammates likely to make the cut.

Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona, is set to be included after an impressive spell in Spain.

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is also expected to travel to the World Cup, following a series of strong performances under Michael Carrick in recent months.

Tuchel is reportedly considering Chelsea defender Levi Colwill as a potential replacement for Maguire in the squad.

The 23-year-old Colwill has managed only three competitive appearances for the Blues this season after suffering a serious knee injury just before the campaign began.

Maguire first earned his England call-up in 2017 and went on to represent the national team at two previous World Cups and the 2020 European Championship, before injury ruled him out of Euro 2024.

With 66 international caps to his name, the Manchester United defender may have now played his final game for England.

Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa and Manchester City’s Marc Guehi are expected to form the central defensive partnership at the World Cup, with John Stones likely to provide backup if selected.

England will kick off their World Cup campaign on June 17 against Croatia in Group L, before facing Ghana and Panama in their remaining group fixtures.
