Major development puts Manchester United on alert for Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga as fresh expectations emerge

Manchester United have reportedly been put back "on alert" to pursue Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer following a significant new development regarding his future.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a strong second half of the campaign under interim boss Michael Carrick, who stepped in for Ruben Amorim in January. Carrick’s impact has been immediate, guiding United to a surge in form that has seen them comfortably secure a Champions League spot.

With a third-place finish in the Premier League sealed, United’s return to Europe’s elite competition will not only lift morale but also strengthen their summer transfer budget. Reports indicate that the club have prioritised at least two midfielders, a left-back, and a left-winger as key targets for the upcoming transfer window.

Among the numerous midfielders linked with the club, Eduardo Camavinga’s name continues to feature prominently. The 21-year-old Frenchman, who joined Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021, could now be available under circumstances that potentially favour United.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected within Old Trafford circles, believes that Camavinga’s recent omission from France’s World Cup squad could open the door for a move. According to Brown, this development puts the Red Devils in a strong position to pursue the talented midfielder.

“United were monitoring him closely while he was still in France, but they didn’t make a move at that time because everyone knew Real Madrid would be his next destination,” Brown explained. “Things haven’t gone as smoothly for him in Spain as expected, which is surprising given his obvious talent. Every time I’ve seen him play, he’s impressed me.”

Brown added, “Now that he’s been left out of the France squad, that could change things for him significantly. He’ll need to play more regularly to prove his worth, and that situation could make him open to a move. Manchester United will certainly be alert to that possibility. If he does become available, I wouldn’t be surprised if they explore the opportunity.”

“There are other names on United’s shortlist, such as Elliot Anderson, who might be a more immediate target,” Brown continued. “However, if they find themselves unable to land their top priorities and Camavinga is available at a reasonable price, he could definitely become a serious option.”

Camavinga’s current contract at Real Madrid still has several years left, but his limited playing time in key matches has led to speculation that he might seek a new challenge. With Manchester United set for another major rebuild under Carrick’s leadership, the Frenchman could emerge as one of the most intriguing midfield targets of the summer window.
