Cricket Gully | May 21, 2026 3:39 PM CST

Wednesday morning at the home of newly elected Cricket Canada boss Arvinder Khosa there were shots fired in Surrey British Columbia. The house was occupied at the time of the shooting though no injuries were sustained.

Khosa confirmed the attack with CBC News but he did not provide further information about the incident. A number of reports suggest there are at least five bullet holes in the front door, windows, and external walls of Khosa's Newton neighbourhood home.

Police Confirm Extortion Threats

Authorities were called to the residence at around 4:40 am following the shooting, and the investigation that followed revealed that an individual associated with the residence had received threats relating to extortion.

Police reported:

"An individual associated to the residence that was shot this morning has received extortion related threats."

There have been no arrests at this time and the investigation continues as police search for the suspect or suspects in the shooting and determine if the event is related to any similar events that have taken place throughout Canada.

Khosa Earlier Linked to Bishnoi Gang Allegations

A prior investigation carried out by CBC connected Khosa with the Bishnoi gang; however he denies those allegations vehemently. That report also raised concerns regarding the functioning of Cricket Canada in general, mentioning accusations of corruption, the presence of organized crime within the ranks, and even match-fixing.

The CBC reported that Khosa was linked to players who claim they belong to the Bishnoi gang and who according to the investigation, threatened a player on the Canadian national men's cricket team last year.

The Bishnoi gang has been officially declared a terrorist organization in Canada, where authorities say they have links to several different types of crimes. Those include murder, shooting, extortion, and arson, and the organization is described by officials as a transnational group that operates primarily out of India, but is believed to also be represented within diaspora communities in Canada. The group is believed to be operating under the guidance of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Earlier Attacks on Cricket Canada Officials

The incident at Khosa's home isn't the first in the history of Cricket Canada involving shooting and officials. Earlier this year, the home of a former Cricket Canada board member located in Calgary was targeted in two separate shooting incidents both in February and March.

Police eventually arrested three suspects and charged them in connection with those attacks, and police are still searching for a fourth man, but they have not confirmed at this time whether or not the two shootings are related.
