Usually, I shop Amazon’s Memorial Day sales with a home refresh mindset: a new planter for the porch, some outdoor pillows that aren’t faded and musty, maybe a kitchen rug to disguise the never-ending spills and dog hair. But this year, my shopping strategy took a hard pivot.

This is the first summer my kids will be home more than they’ll be at camp. With a tween and a teen, the camp options have thinned out, but my workload hasn’t. Going back to my minimalist tendencies, a vegetable chopper isn’t a kitchen gadget I would typically gravitate towards.
