Extreme heat havoc in Uttarakhand, heat stroke alert in many districts including Dehradun-Nainital

Dehradun: The heat has increased the problems of the people in the plains of Uttarakhand. The hottest day of this season was recorded in Dehradun and Haridwar on Wednesday. Strong sunlight, hot winds and rising temperatures have badly affected the life of common people. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat stroke alert for the next 48 hours for many districts of the state.

The maximum temperature recorded in Dehradun was 40.6 degrees Celsius, which is about five degrees more than normal. There was silence in the markets and streets in the afternoon due to hot winds and scorching sun. While leaving their homes, people were seen covering their heads and faces with clothes and using sunglasses.

Next 48 hours are very important

Meteorological Director Dr. CS Tomar said that heat stroke alert has been issued for Haridwar, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Pauri and Uttarkashi districts. He said that there is no possibility of relief in temperature for the next two to three days. After this, there may be a slight drop of two to three degrees in mercury.

Crowd of patients increased in hospitals

The effect of extreme heat is also visible on health services. The number of patients suffering from dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, dizziness and heat stroke is continuously increasing in the emergency wards and OPDs of hospitals.

Senior physician Dr. Kumar Ji Kaul said that children and the elderly are being most affected by this extreme heat. He advised to “go out in the afternoon only when absolutely necessary and drink ORS or water continuously.”

Emphasis on ‘water bell’ in schools

Education Director Dr. Mukul Kumar Sati has instructed all schools to motivate students to drink water from time to time. He told that in view of the heat wave, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has asked to implement ‘water bell’ system in schools.

He said that arrangements for drinking water, essential medicines and other necessary facilities should be ensured in all schools so that children can be protected from the heat.

Delhi and North India also in the grip of heat wave

The heat wave continues in the capital Delhi also. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of respite from the scorching heat for the next six days. The maximum temperature recorded in Safdarjung was 44.5 degrees Celsius, while the temperature is expected to reach 47 degrees on Thursday.

At the same time, Banda district of Uttar Pradesh was recorded as the hottest place in the country with a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius.
