For many fresh graduates, securing a high-paying role at a reputed multinational company soon after college is considered a dream achievement. On the surface, Vidhi Moondra appeared to have the perfect career path ahead of her. However, she chose to walk away from her seven-figure job at Barclays without having another opportunity lined up.
In an Instagram video, Vidhi spoke about how her life looked “perfect on paper" with a strong salary package, a good company, and a stable future. Despite that, she admitted feeling disconnected from the life she was living.
She shared that after graduating from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, she joined Barclays directly from campus placements. From the outside, she felt her life looked ideal.
“I had the dream college, a perfect job. I mean, what else would I need, right?" she said.
“But to be honest, something in life wasn’t clicking that time. Like, I used to come back home after a really long day and just sit and think, ‘If I do this for five more years, who do I become?’" she added.
Eventually, she decided to resign without securing another job first. She moved back to Jodhpur and spent the next few months trying to understand what she truly wanted from life.
“It Was the Most Uncomfortable Phase”
Talking about the period after quitting, Vidhi admitted that the uncertainty was difficult to handle.
“So I resigned without any job waiting for me. I came back to Jodhpur for the next five months, and trust me, it was the most uncomfortable phase of my life," she said.
“I kept overthinking my decision because what if there’s even a one percent chance that I took a wrong decision?" she added.
“And not because Barclays wasn’t good, it was AMAZING. But because I wasn’t feeling aligned," she wrote.
She also acknowledged that moving back home without a backup plan felt risky, but she believed she wanted something more meaningful from life. According to her, she is now doing work she genuinely enjoys and has no regrets about taking the leap.
“And trust me when I say this, I am so glad I left because at twenty-one I’d rather experiment early than regret it for the rest of my life," she said in the video.
Another user wrote, “The scary decisions usually become the best stories later," a person commented.
