Mumbai, May 18: Redmi is gearing up to launch a budget-friendly yet powerful smartphone, the Redmi K100, which is expected to feature an impressive 200MP camera setup. This new device has recently appeared on various certification sites, revealing significant details about its specifications. Positioned as an upgrade over last year’s K90 series, the K100 is anticipated to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, commonly found in many recent flagship models.
According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, the Redmi K100 will sport a 6.59-inch ultra HD display with a high refresh rate. The device is also rumored to have a robust 8-pin battery structure, supporting 100W fast charging and possibly wireless charging capabilities.
On the camera front, the K100 is said to include a formidable 200MP camera system, complemented by a telephoto lens and a 3D fingerprint sensor. Additionally, it may offer full water resistance, a feature not often seen in this price range, along with symmetrical dual speakers for a balanced audio experience.
Moreover, alongside the standard Redmi K100, there are indications that a more premium version, the Redmi K100 Pro Max, will also be launched, providing enhanced features compared to the base model.
In India, the Redmi K100 Pro Max is expected to be rebranded as the Poco F9 Ultra, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform. This model is anticipated to feature a triple camera setup, including a 200MP primary lens, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
The Redmi K100 series is expected to debut in China this October, with a potential launch in India early next year, depending on the release schedule.
