New Delhi:Triumph has brought out two special editions of the Tiger 900, which were previously revealed overseas, in India as well. They are called the Alpine Edition and Desert Edition, and are priced at Rs 15.35 lakh and Rs 16.05 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
Even though the Alpine Edition has a premium of Rs 95,000 more than the GT, the Desert is cheaper than the Rally Pro by about Rs 10,000. This is despite getting unique styling, added protective equipment and even an Akrapovic exhaust.
Triumph Tiger 900 special editions: What are the updates
Both editions carry on Triumph’s 888 cc inline three-cylinder liquid-cooled T-Plane engine
Both bikes are based upon the newest Tiger 900 platform and come with distinctive styling themes, and are given a range of factory-fitted accessories. The Tiger 900 Alpine Edition is the more road- and touring-focused. Based on the GT Pro, it gets a Snowdonia White and Sapphire Black paint scheme along with blue accents, touring-oriented detailing and an Akrapovic exhaust.
On the other hand, the Tiger 900 Desert Edition is based on the Rally Pro and adopts a more rugged, off-road-oriented character. It comes with Baja Orange highlights, additional protective equipment, adventure-focused styling elements and even an Akrapovic silencer.
Powering the two bikes is the Triumph’s 888 cc inline three-cylinder liquid-cooled T-Plane engine, making 108hp at 9,500rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 6,850rpm. The engine is mated with a six-speed gearbox and bi-directional quickshifter. The Tiger 900 range continues to come with premium suspension hardware, TFT instrumentation, multiple riding modes and quite an extensive electronic suite.
The two new editions are being launched alongside Triumph’s refreshed Bonneville range and other global reveals, which include the likes of Street Triple 765 RX and the Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition. In more recent times, Triumph has been busy, bringing to India the global products, special editions and updating their line.
