Due to the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, the country is currently experiencing a shortage of LPG. However, the government is taking swift steps to address this situation, including rapidly expanding the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network. Meanwhile, the government has also made a major decision regarding the cooking gas system.
What's the decision?
A "no dual connection" rule will be implemented nationwide starting July 1st. Under this rule, a household will now be allowed to have only one connection, either LPG or PNG. If a consumer has both connections, they will be required to surrender one. Failure to do so could result in the LPG connection being automatically suspended.
What is the no dual connection rule?
According to the new rule, no consumer will be able to simultaneously hold a subsidized LPG cylinder and a PNG connection. Oil marketing companies have been instructed not to allow new LPG refills or bookings where a PNG connection is active. This arrangement aims to ensure that a single household does not benefit from dual subsidies. According to government guidelines, consumers who have both connections will have to surrender one connection by June 30.
