Hindi cinema actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is known all over the world for his brilliant acting and powerful characters, but his life’s journey has not been easy at all. There was a time when before coming into films, he worked as a chemist in a petrochemical company in Vadodara.

Even while working, he had a passion for acting which brought him to Bollywood. It was not easy for Nawazuddin to leave the small town and make his own place in the film industry, but he never gave up.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born on 19 May 1974 in Budhana, a small town in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. He comes from an ordinary landlord family. His father was a farmer. Since childhood, Nawazuddin was inclined towards films and acting. However, at that time films were not seen as a career in the family.

After completing his studies, Nawazuddin did graduation in Science from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar. After this he reached Vadodara, Gujarat in search of a job. Here he worked as a chemist in a petrochemical company. In this job he had to test many types of chemicals. The job was good but his heart was in acting.

After some time, Nawazuddin left the job and came to Delhi. During this time, his inclination towards theater started increasing. After this he enrolled in the National School of Drama (NSD) and learned the nuances of acting. He did not get much money from the theatre, hence it was difficult to meet his daily expenses due to which he had to take up the job of a watchman.

His struggle in Mumbai was even more difficult. Initially he got very small roles in films. In 1999, he played a small role in Aamir Khan’s film ‘Sarfarosh’. After this, he did small roles in ‘Shool’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ and many other films. However, despite so much work, he was not getting any special recognition.

After struggling for about 12 to 15 years, there was a big turning point in his life. Faizal Khan’s character in director Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ made him famous overnight. After this film people became crazy about his acting. His style of speaking dialogues became the audience’s favorite.

After this, Nawazuddin worked in many great films including ‘The Lunch Box’, ‘Kick’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’, ‘Manto’, ‘Thackeray’, and ‘Raat Akeli Hai’. Apart from films, he also acted strongly in the ‘Sacred Games’ web series. The characters played by him were liked a lot not only in India but also abroad.

Nawazuddin also received many big awards for his acting. He was given a special jury honor at the National Film Awards. Apart from this, he has also received many honors at Filmfare and international forums. His acting in films like ‘Manto’ and ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ was appreciated internationally.
