Nizam’s is the reliable address for petpujos in Kolkata’s delicious base of beef brisket. Not just rolls. Many people’s mouths water when they hear about the Kathi Kebab Rolls, Tandoor and Kebabs of this almost century old restaurant. However, the popular restaurant has closed beef. Menu cuts naturally cater to fussy eaters.

But why close the beef? After the recent change of government, strict rules have been imposed on the killing of animals. Keeping in mind the health of the general public, it is said to check whether the animal has any disease or not in the restaurant. At present there are two recognized slaughterhouses in Kolkata. One is Tangra and the other is next to Thapa. It is known that until now the physical examination of animals was not done in slaughterhouses. In that way, even valid documents were not seen. But currently it is not possible to get meat without testing. As a result, there is a shortage in supply. Naturally so off the beef post. However, there was no response from the restaurant authorities in this regard.

Beef is available in several restaurants around Park Street, Esplanade. Those restaurants are also in the scanner. The administration is keeping a close eye so that beef is not cooked without any kind of inspection. Because, if proper examination is not carried out, various diseases can spread. The danger of loss of life cannot be completely avoided. So caution is being taken. A section of traders claimed, “If the government issues guidelines, it must be followed.” Food lovers also agree on that. According to them, “It is necessary to take care that the food bought by spending money is not harmful to health in any way.” Some people also think that if the government rules are strict, it will benefit the common people.
