Patna : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has shown his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav out of the party for 6 years. This decision not only reveals the inner discord in the Lalu family, but can also affect the equations of the Bihar assembly elections to be held later this year. Especially, discussions about Tej Pratap’s future in seats like Hasanpur and Mahua have intensified.
Tej Pratap Yadav started the political innings by winning elections from Mahua assembly seat in 2015. He then contested from Hasanpur seat in Samastipur district in 2020 and won. However, even then, his primary choice was Mahua, but the party gave ticket to Mukesh Roshan from there. Now when Tej Pratap is out of RJD, the question arises whether he will return to Mahua once again?
Will Tej Pratap independents contest elections?
Tej Pratap’s image has become a rebel leader who is always in the headlines due to controversies, emotional statements and family stress. He definitely has political experience, but after being out of the party, he has a big question. According to media reports, Tej Pratap can contest the next election from Mahua, where he has done a lot of work before and considers himself a strong candidate.
However, it will not be easy to contest elections out of RJD. But there is a discussion in the political corridors that if Tej Pratap lands in the field under the banner of Independents or a new party, RJD will not field candidates from there by giving that seat to a small ally. This can increase the chances of Tej Pratap.
Hasanpur and Mahua: Two seats, two equations
The Hasanpur seat stars Yadav, Muslim and Kushwaha voters in a decisive role. Due to the separation of Tej Pratap, Yadav votes can be divided, which can strengthen the NDA. Apart from Yadav and Muslim votes in Mahua, Paswan and Ravidas community are also effective. This seat can now become a direct battle of Tej Pratap vs RJD.
NDA’s strategy and opposition’s eye
The NDA is looking at the separation of Tej Pratap as an opportunity. BJP and JDU are eyeing the Yadav votes that can divide between Tejashwi and Tej Pratap. If Tej Pratap is able to prove that injustice has been done to them, then they can take advantage of the sympathy wave. In such a situation, this fight will not only be of two seats but also RJD’s credibility.

Some political analysts believe that this family drama can also be a well-planned electoral strategy, but if it is really a real break, then there may be a big change in Bihar’s politics.
