Tottenham have officially confirmed the signing of Omar Marmoush from Manchester City.

The Egypt forward has moved to north London on an initial season-long loan, with the deal including an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer in an agreement understood to be worth about £60million including add-ons.

Marmoush follows Savio, also known as Savinho, in moving from City to Spurs. The Brazilian winger completed his £85m transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this week and then scored on his debut in Wednesday night’s 5-1 Carabao Cup thrashing of Charlton.

Tottenham have given Marmoush the No22 shirt, which was previously worn by midfielder Conor Gallagher. Gallagher changed to the No8 jersey this season after Yves Bissouma left the club.

Among the other Spurs players to have worn that number in recent years are Harry Winks, Ryan Mason and Paulinho.

Explaining why he chose to join Spurs, Marmoush told the club’s official website: "It feels amazing to be here. I'm so excited to get started with the team and I can't wait to meet the fans.

"Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me.

"I've spoken with the head coach [Roberto De Zerbi], I loved what he had to say and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together."

The marquee arrivals of Savio and Marmoush are part of an ambitious summer spending drive by Tottenham, who have spent more than £300m on eight new signings ahead of De Zerbi’s first full campaign in charge. That follows back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League, with the club only avoiding relegation on the final day last season.

Further business could still be done before the transfer window shuts at 11pm BST on Tuesday night, September 1, with Spurs still interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and also known to admire Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams.

Tottenham broke their club transfer record twice within only a few days last month as they signed midfield pair Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes for a combined fee of around £185m. They also brought in Dutch centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for £52m.

Defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi both arrived earlier in the summer on free transfers, along with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Marmoush joined City from German side Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January 2025 and went on to score 16 goals while registering six assists in 62 appearances in all competitions.

However, he started only eight Premier League matches under Enzo Maresca’s predecessor Pep Guardiola last season and, like Savio, wanted to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer in search of more regular game time.

Marmoush could make his Tottenham debut on Saturday evening, when De Zerbi’s side will try to build on the momentum from their Carabao Cup win over Charlton and respond to the sobering 3-0 opening-day defeat at Brentford as they host Newcastle in the Premier League.

The exits of Savio and Marmoush come during a busy late-window period for City, who have brought in Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille and agreed a deal for Palmeiras attacker Allan Elias as they prepare an official bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

City are also interested in Gakpo and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, while Jack Grealish could now follow Rodri, Nico Gonzalez, Tijjani Reijnders and James Trafford out of the club.
