The Government of India's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in) has issued a big security flaw warning in the desktop app of Whatsapp. This flaw can endanger your device's data.

🛑 What is the flaw in the protection of Whatsapp Web?
According to reports, a bug has been found in the older version from Whatsapp Web version 2.2450.6 which can allow the system to be hacked through file attachment. Hackers can send a dangerous file to the normal format, which can be hacked by your computer as soon as you open.

🔍 How to know which version is your Whatsapp?
Open Whatsapp Web in your laptop/desktop.

Go to the settings on the bottom left.

Click on Help> About from there.

Your Whatsapp Web version will be written under an image below.

If the version is new from 2.2450.6, then it is not a matter of panic. Otherwise, update immediately.

⚠ What could not be updated?
According to CERT-in, this flaw is revealed when mime type and file extension are wrongly handled.
Meaning – An unknown file may seem real, but it can run dangerous code in computer. After this, hackers can take complete control of your computer and steal data.

✅ What to do to escape?
Update Whatsapp Web immediately.

Do not open the file attachment from the unknown number.

Place a good antivirus installed in your computer.

Scan the system every week.
