EPFO Higher Pension: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Wednesday gave employers time till January 31, 2025, to upload salary details in respect of more than 3.1 lakh applications pending for pension on higher wages. Employers have been requested to respond or update information in 4.66 lakh cases sought clarification by the EPFO by January 15, 2025.
Why the deadline was extended
The EPFO said that the last chance is being given because, despite several extensions, it has been observed that more than 3.1 lakh applications are still pending with the employers for validation of options/combined options.
Several representations have also been received from employers and employer associations requesting a further extension of the period for uploading salary details of applicant pensioners/members.
The deadline has been extended earlier also.
EPFO said, "In view of the representations received from employers and associations, employers were given several opportunities to submit salary details, etc. online till 30.09.2023, then till 31.12.2023 and thereafter till 31.05.2024, to ensure that employers are able to process the applications."
The online facility was made available by EPFO for submission of applications for verification of options/combined options for pension on higher salary. This facility was for eligible pensioners/members in compliance with the Supreme Court order of April 4, 2022.
This facility was launched on February 26, 2023, and was to be available only till May 3, 2023. However, considering the representation of the employees, the deadline was extended to June 26, 2023, to provide four months' time for eligible pensioners/members to file applications.
A final opportunity of 15 days was given to the eligible pensioners/members to remove any difficulties being faced by them.
The statement said, "Accordingly, the last date for submission of applications for verification of option/combined option by the employees was extended to 11.07.2023 and a total of 17.49 lakh applications were received from pensioners/members for verification of option/combined option till 11.07.2023."
