New Aadhar rule in Assam: To get an Aadhar card, it will now be necessary to first apply for NRC. This has been announced by the Himanta Biswa government of Assam. The state government clarified that no one's Aadhar card will be made without applying for NRC. That is, it will be mandatory to apply for NRC in Assam for an Aadhar card. If someone does not apply for NRC, the Aadhar card of those people will not be made.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting.
The Himanta Biswa Sarma government of Assam has said that if the applicant or his family has not applied for NRC, then all the applications made for his Unique Identity Card (Aadhaar) will be cancelled. CM Sarma said that this decision had been taken in the cabinet meeting. He said that this step has been taken due to the attempt of infiltration of people from Bangladesh.
The state government is worried about infiltration
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma further said, "Assam Police, Tripura Police and BSF have foiled many infiltration attempts during the last two months. Due to this, infiltration from Bangladesh remains a matter of concern for us. We have to strengthen our system, so the Aadhaar mechanism has been made tough."
After the cabinet meeting, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the General Administration Department in the state government will look after the verification of Aadhaar applicants. Along with this, the Additional District Commissioner in every district will take responsibility for this work.
UIDAI will send the application to the government
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "After applying for an Aadhar card, UIDAI will send it to the state government for verification, after which a circle officer will confirm whether the applicant or his family members have applied for NRC or not. Along with this, CM Sarma also clarified that these rules will not apply to central government employees.
According to the SOP accepted in the Assam Cabinet meeting, for this the state government will first verify the documents submitted by the applicant. Within 45 days of that, they will be returned online to UIDAI. Let us tell you that earlier the NRC list was released on August 31, 2019, in which 19,06,657 people could not prove themselves to be Indian citizens.
