Step-by-step process to update your address in Aadhaar
Find your nearest Aadhar Seva Kendra
The first step is to find the nearest Aadhar Seva Kendra (Aadhar Center) to your home. You can do this by visiting the official UIDAI website or searching online.
Fill the correction form
After reaching the Aadhar Seva Kendra, ask for the Aadhar correction form. Do not forget to select the address update option on the form.
Provide your details
In the form, you need to provide personal information like your name, contact number, and existing Aadhaar number.
Attach address proof
Along with the form, attach a photocopy of your new address proof (e.g., utility bill, rent agreement, or any government-issued document showing your new address).
Bring original documents for verification
Don’t forget to carry original documents for verification at the center.
Biometric and photo verification
After submitting the form and documents, your biometric data (fingerprint and iris scan) will be taken. A photo will also be clicked for verification.
Address update confirmation
If everything is okay, your old address will be updated with the new address in the Aadhaar database.
Payment and delivery
There will be a nominal fee for the update. After the update is complete, your updated Aadhaar card will be sent to your new address in a few days.
Online options:
You can fill the address update form online through the UIDAI portal. Even after filling the online form, you will have to visit the Aadhaar centre only for biometric verification. However, keep in mind that you can update your Aadhaar address online only four times.
