The Aadhaar card has now become the most important document. It is needed for things like taking advantage of government schemes, getting a SIM card, and opening a bank account. Many people had an Aadhaar card made a long time ago and there were some mistakes in the name or date of birth in it. Such people can get their Aadhaar card updated for free till December 14. After this, you may have to pay a charge for updating.
Why is it necessary to update Aadhaar?
UIDAI, the organization that makes Aadhaar, has suggested to all the people that if it has been more than 10 years since the information in Aadhaar was updated, then it must be updated. You can update your Aadhaar card information like name, address, or date of birth for free till December 14, 2024. This process is completely online. You can easily update all the information sitting at home.
Process to update Aadhaar online
Login to the UIDAI website (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in).
Select the Update section and click on 'Update Your Aadhaar' under 'My Aadhaar'.
Go to the detail update page select 'Update Aadhaar Details' and click on 'Document Update'.
Enter the credentials here, fill in the Aadhaar number and captcha, then click on 'Send OTP'.
Now you have to log in with the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
Select the update option here. Select the field to update your name, address, etc.
Then upload the document. Fill in the required information and click on the submit option.
After submission, the process will be completed. Now save the update request number (URN). Through this, you can track the process of updating your Aadhaar.
You will have to go to the center for major updates
If you want to make biometric changes, then you will have to follow the offline process for that. In this, the update work for iris, fingerprint, mobile number, or photo can be done only offline. However, some changes can be done only once. This includes updates in date of birth and gender.
How to update offline
You can also update the Aadhaar card offline. But, for this, you will have to go to the Aadhaar center. This process is not free. You will also have to pay money for this.
Download the Aadhaar update form from the UIDAI website.
Submit the form and documents at the nearest Aadhaar service center.
For biometric submission, give biometric data at the Aadhaar center.
Now you will get a URN slip for tracking the request.
